The Nursery section of St. Xavier’s Pre-Primary School, affiliated to St. Vincent’s High School, was an initiative of the Principal of the St. Vincent’s High School, Rev. Fr. Francis Patekar. It was inaugurated by the Provincial of the Jesuits, Pune Province, Rev. Fr. Agnelo Mascarenhas, on the 16th of June 2022.
The aim of the Nursery school is to create an environment that is a happy place to which the child looks forward to coming each day and to help in the smooth transition from ‘home’ to ‘formal learning’.
We have enthusiastic and well- trained staff with a teacher- student ratio of 1:10 to provide individual attention to the little boys. A lot of hands- on experiences are given to the children at the Nursery to help them develop different skill sets, using both traditional and modern teaching methods and technology. A lot of activities are planned throughout the year such as different Colour days, National festivals, Fancy dress, Annual day, to name a few.
The Nursery follows a syllabus that is guided by the requirements of the foundational stage. It has six areas of learning which covers the child’s Physical, Social, Emotional, Language, Mathematical and Creative development. Learning takes place, through the Play Way Method; Singing, music, dance, games, creative play and social interaction are the main thrust of the Play Way Method. Rhymes, Jingles, Dramatics, Story time, Eurythmic, Drawing, Painting, Craft, etc. form a major part of the curriculum, which include the introduction and development of reading and writing skills. The children enjoy the spacious and safe play area provided at the Nursery.
